How to get the perfect Wedding Day skin

Maintaining a skin care routine is not only vital to great-looking skin on your wedding day, it also provides a perfect canvas for flawless makeup. Use these tips from Dermalogica skin experts to incorporate the perfect wedding day skin into your busy schedule.

Start a series of monthly skin treatments

Such as the BioActiveâ„¢ Peel, to get your skin in peak performance. These treatments will provide your skin with a deep cleanse and exfoliation, to help rid your skin of impurities.

If you need breakout damage control, use an oil-based precleanser prior to your normal cleanser to dissolve excess sebum and debris, which can contribute to breakouts. Also, don’t forget to protect your skin from sun damage with an SPF everyday. There are many different SPF formulas, so be sure choose the best one for your skin’s needs

4–5 months before your wedding

Zero in on specific problems with targeted solutions such as Age Reversal Eye Complex, a powerful eye cream that tackles wrinkles, dark circles, puffiness and dehydration. If you feel your skin needs a little extra TLC between professional treatments, ask a skin therapist for a targeted, 20-minute MicroZone® Treatment that focuses on specific skin concerns such as tired eyes.

2–3 months before your wedding

This is considered a very tense time for brides. If your skin is showing signs of stress with sporadic breakouts, conceal and heal with Concealing Spot Treatment. Also, your skin should be pumped with antioxidants and hydrating, energizing ingredients in anticipation of the big day, so use MultiVitamin Power Recovery® Masque once a week to keep skin supple and hydrated.

1 month before your wedding

Avoid any new or extreme treatment as your skin may react unfavorably. Your final skin care treatment should be at least three to four days before the wedding. Focus on gently cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing.

If you're booking a waxing or exfoliating appointment, do it no less than two days before your wedding. This allows any redness to dissipate.

Your Wedding Day

Think of your skin as canvas and your makeup as paint. You won’t get great results without a smooth canvas, so cleanse, tone, moisturize and follow the tips in the image above.

Also, pack an emergency bag with essentials like a concealing breakout treatment in case of a blemish, a travel-size mist for makeup touch-ups, and a lip complex to keep your lips hydrated.

Experience the power of BioActive Peel, a powerful new skin resurfacing system from the skin health experts at Dermalogica and The International Dermal Institute. It helps reduce acne, pigmentation and signs of premature aging to reveal smoother, brighter and softer skin.

Why do I need it?
Chemical peels are one of the most popular professional skin care services today because they can improve the quality, texture and color of skin. But they can also produce severe side effects such as inflammation, discoloration and scarring for up to several months. With BioActive Peel, you can get the same powerful results without the associated risks or downtime. In fact, your skin will look and feel healthier than ever!

How does it work?
BioActive Peel is designed to work with the skin’s chemistry, not against it. When performed by a certified skin care professional, it safely removes dull outer layers of skin and helps the skin underneath regenerate for a smooth, radiant complexion. In general, BioActive Peel can be tailored to address:

  • skin roughness

  • signs of photodamage

  • fine lines and wrinkles

  • acne breakouts

  • skin congestion

  • some forms of hyperpigmentation and unbalanced skin tone

  •

What can I expect?
Your skin condition, skin concern and dedication to post-treatment care will impact the frequency and results of BioActive Peel treatments. Clients typically notice dramatically improved skin quality, texture and tone within three treatments. Ideally, a series of three treatments are performed over a six- to twelve-week period, followed by maintenance treatments twice a year.

Post treatment care
Immediately after your BioActive Peel treatment, your skin may appear red and flushed. As your skin goes through the renewal process, it is normal to experience dryness, redness and tightness, as well as some peeling or flaking within a week. You may also notice a more pronounced appearance of pigmentation as it rises to the skin’s surface. These side effects will subside quickly with proper post-treatment care, starting with the BioActive Peel After Care Kit.

This kit includes: UltraCalmingâ„¢ Cleanser, broad-spectrum Super Sensitive Shield SPF30 and two nourishing moisturizers, as well as AGE Smart Multivitamin Thermafoliant® to help buff away post-treatment peeling. In addition, ask your skin care professional for a fully customized Dermalogica skin care prescription to help ensure lasting results.
